THE 78 CARDS · RESEARCH NOTES
Meaning & symbolism
Traditional Rider–Waite–Smith symbolism and an editorial Royal / Dragon adaptation for this card.
Upright keywords
Cycles · changing circumstances · timing · adaptability
Upright meaning
A situation begins to turn beyond the individual's direct control. The Wheel points to changing conditions, timing, cause and consequence, and recurring patterns. Notice what is rising or falling and respond wisely; no position on the wheel lasts forever. An old cycle may end as an unexpected opportunity appears.
Reversed keywords
Resistance to change · repeated patterns · feeling powerless
Reversed meaning
The person may cling to a passing moment or attribute everything to luck. A reversal is not a sentence of bad fate: identify where action is possible and where adaptability is the more useful response.
RWS image & symbols
TARO lettering and esoteric characters appear on the wheel; the descending serpent and ascending jackal-headed figure suggest phases of rise and decline; the sword-bearing sphinx above suggests balance amid change; four book-bearing corner beings evoke enduring order and awareness.
Reader's lens
Avoid unconditional good-luck or bad-luck predictions. Ask which concrete opportunity is opening and which habit keeps repeating.
Royal / Dragon adaptation
Keep the wheel central. Reinterpret animal-headed beings, serpent, and corner creatures as dragons with distinct original roles; do not add unnecessary human figures.
